Hydantoins/Fluvoxamine Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

When these two medicines are taken together, fluvoxamine may prevent your body from processing your seizure medicine properly.

What might happen:

The blood levels of your seizure medicine may increase and cause toxic effects.

What you should do about this interaction:

Make sure all of your doctors and other healthcare professionals (e.g. pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together.It may be necessary to measure the blood levels of your seizure medicine more often or adjust the dose to make sure you are at safe and effective level.If you develop the onset of nausea, vomiting, loss of coordination or trouble walking, confusion, dizziness, seizures, unusual eye movements, double vision or the onset of other severe symptoms, contact your doctor.Your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
