Elbasvir-Grazoprevir/Rifampin Interactions

How the interaction occurs:
Rifampin can increase and decrease elbasvir-grazoprevir levels, depending on how which drug you started taking first.
What might happen:
If you are taking elbasvir-grazoprevir and start rifampin, the amount of grazoprevir in your blood may increase for a few days and cause liver problems. After a few days, the amount of elbasvir-grazoprevir in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.If you are taking rifampin or recently stopped taking rifampin and start taking elbasvir-grazoprevir, the amount of elbasvir-grazoprevir in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know right away that you are taking these medicines together or if you recently stopped taking rifampin. Your doctor may want to check your liver, how your elbasvir-grazoprevir is working, and/or the amount of elbasvir-grazoprevir in your blood. Your doctor may want to change your medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
