Oral Fluoroquinolones/Sevelamer Interactions

How the interaction occurs:
Sevelamer may bind to your fluoroquinolone antibiotic in your digestive tract and prevent your body from absorbing it.
What might happen:
The amount of fluoroquinolone antibiotic in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Time your medicines so that you take your fluoroquinolone antibiotic at least two hours before or six hours after your sevelamer. Let your healthcare professional know if your condition does not improve or worsens. Your doctor may need to change your antibiotic.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
