- Management or Monitoring Precaution: Endocrine-Risk for hypoglycemia with diabetes. Musculoskeletal-Associated with an increased risk for tendinitis and tendon rupture particularly in the elderly with corticosteroid use. Cardiovascular-Elderly are more susceptible to the QT-prolongation from quinolones. Increased rate of aortic aneurysm and dissection within 2 months of use, Neuro/Psych-Risk for peripheral neuropathy which may affect walking/increase fall risk. CNS stimulation may occur (confusion, anxiety, insomnia).
Giving Floxin I.V. In D5W Piggyback to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: Safety and efficacy not established age < 18 years. Known risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture. Joint lesions observed in juvenile animal studies.
