What should I Know Regarding Pregnancy, Nursing and Administering Fenofibric Acid to Children or the Elderly?
If you are PREGNANT
- Requires a Risk/Benefit Assessment:
If you are NURSING
- Absolute Contraindication: AVOID BREASTFEEDING DURING TREATMENT AND FOR 5 DAYS AFTER LAST DOSE PER MANUF
If you are an adult over 60
- Management or Monitoring Precaution: General-Elderly patients and patients with diabetes, hypothyroidism, or renal insufficiency are at increased risk for serious muscle toxicity. Renal-Avoid use in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. Contraindicated in those with severe renal impairment. Consider monitoring renal function.
Giving Fenofibric Acid to a child under 12
- Management or Monitoring Precaution: Safety and efficacy not established in pediatrics.
