How the interaction occurs:
Antacids may lower the amount of mesalamine that reaches your intestines and colon.Some vitamins may contain "hidden" antacids such as some forms of calcium and magnesium.
What might happen:
If you take an antacid at the same time as your mesalamine, your mesalamine may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your healthcare provider may want to change one of your medicines.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
