How the interaction occurs:

Your medicine is designed to release posaconazole in your intestines. Alcohol may cause most or all of the posaconazole to be released in your stomach and may result in less medicine being absorbed into your blood.

What might happen:

The amount of medicine in your blood may decrease and posaconazole may not work as expected.

What you should do about this interaction:

Avoid alcohol or liquid medicines which contain alcohol when using this medicine because it may cause the medication to be released too quickly and result in failure of your therapy. Contact your health care provider (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) if you have questions or your infection does not seem to be improving.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
