Who should not take Pradaxa?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • increased risk of bleeding due to clotting disorder
  • cerebral amyloid angiopathy
  • chronic kidney disease stage 4 (severe)
  • procedure to place indwelling epidural catheter
  • an increased risk of bleeding
  • bleeding
  • neuraxial anesthesia
  • local anesthesia injected in the epidural space or subarachnoid space
  • deep plexus block
  • operation on the spine
  • deep peripheral nerve block
  • antiphospholipid antibody syndrome
  • mechanical heart valve present
  • bleeding within the skull
  • pregnancy
