What should I Know Regarding Pregnancy, Nursing and Administering Effervescent Antacid/Pain Rel Tablet to Children or the Elderly?
If you are PREGNANT
If you are NURSING
- Absolute Contraindication: ONE REPORT OF METABOLIC ACIDOSIS; RISK OF REYE'S SYND IN VIRAL ILLNESS.
If you are an adult over 60
- Management or Monitoring Precaution: General-Consider alternative antacid due to high sodium content. Risk of systemic alkalosis, edema, weight gain.
- Management or Monitoring Precaution: Gastrointestinal-Aspirin doses > 325 mg/day carry an increased risk for hemorrhage, GI ulcer, or GI bleed. Lower doses preferred. Cardiovascular-May exacerbate pre-existing hypertension. Renal-Risk for exacerbation of CKD.
Giving Effervescent Antacid/Pain Rel Tablet to a child under 12
- Severe Precaution: Reye syndrome risk with viral illness, fever, and/or flu symptoms.
