Dolutegravir/Selected Oral Cations Interactions

How the interaction occurs:
Your medicine contains aluminum, calcium, iron, lanthanum, magnesium, sucralfate, and/or zinc, which are cations that may bind to your dolutegravir in your digestive tract. This prevents your body from absorbing dolutegravir.
What might happen:
The blood levels of your dolutegravir may be decreased, which will decrease its effectiveness.
What you should do about this interaction:
You should time when you take your dolutegravir and your other medicine so that you do take dolutegravir either 2 hours before or 6 hours after your other medicine. If you have questions about how to time when you take your medicines, ask your pharmacist.
