Who should not take Etanercept Syringe?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • multiple sclerosis
  • low levels of a type of white blood cell called neutrophils
  • a type of blood disorder with a decrease in all types of blood cells called pancytopenia
  • malignant melanoma
  • a type of skin cancer
  • infection that lasts a long time
  • a bad infection
  • pneumonia with a fungus called Pneumocystis jirovecii
  • opportunistic fungal infection
  • a type of systemic fungal infection called aspergillosis
  • a type of fungal lung infection called histoplasmosis
  • a type of systemic fungal infection called coccidioidomycosis
  • an infection due to the fungus Candida
  • chronic heart failure
  • an infection by the fungus Blastomyces dermatitidis
  • hepatitis B
  • active tuberculosis
  • an infection by the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes
  • pneumonia caused by Legionella pneumophila bacteria
  • hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma
  • malignant lymphoma
  • leukemia
  • an increased risk of developing an uncommon viral infection called an opportunistic infection
  • cancer or malignancy
  • sepsis
  • seizures
  • hardening of the liver caused by alcohol
  • sudden blindness and pain upon moving the eye
  • demyelinating disorder
  • a reduction in the body's resistance to infection
  • candidiasis yeast infection that spreads throughout body
  • inactive tuberculosis
  • high blood sugar
