How the interaction occurs:
Tipranavir may speed up how quickly your liver processes amprenavir and fosamprenavir.
What might happen:
If you are taking tipranavir and amprenavir or fosamprenavir, the amount of amprenavir in your blood may decrease, causing it to become less effective or allowing your HIV to develop resistance to your medicine.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to check your blood to determine how your medicines are working. Your doctor may need to adjust the dose of your medicines.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
