How the interaction occurs:
Apalutamide may speed up how quickly your liver processes your HIV protease inhibitor.Your HIV protease inhibitor may slow down how quickly your liver processes apalutamide.
What might happen:
The amount of protease inhibitor in your blood may decrease and it may not work as well against your HIV.You may also have higher levels of apalutamide in your blood, which may cause more side effects than usual.
What you should do about this interaction:
Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together or if you have taken apalutamide recently. Your doctor may want to adjust your medicines.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
