How the interaction occurs:

Drinking alcohol and taking medicines that contain alcohol (ethanol) or propylene glycol may increase your risk for side effects from secnidazole.

What might happen:

You may experience the following side effects of secnidazole more than usual: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache and dizziness.

What you should do about this interaction:

Avoid drinking alcohol and taking preparations that contain alcohol (ethanol) or propylene glycol until at least 2 days after completing therapy with secnidazole.Contact your healthcare professional (e.g., doctor or pharmacist) for more information.Your healthcare professionals may be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change your medicine or diet before checking with them first.
