How the interaction occurs:
Etravirine and rifabutin may speed up how quickly your liver processes both medicines.
What might happen:
The amount of etravirine and rifabutin in your blood may decrease and they may not work as well.
What you should do about this interaction:
Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Also let them know of other HIV-medicines you are taking. Your doctor may want to check the amount of medicines in your blood and how well they are working. Your doctor may want to change your medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
