Azole Antifungal Agents/Rifabutin Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Rifabutin may increase how quickly your body processes your antifungal medicine. Also, your antifungal medicine slow down how quickly your body processes rifabutin.

What might happen:

The anti-infective effects of your antifungal medicine may decrease. Your rifabutin may cause more side effects when taken with your antifungal medicine, including eye inflammation.

What you should do about this interaction:

If you notice any vision changes, or signs of your infection do not improve or worsen, contact your doctor immediately. It may be necessary to adjust the dose of your medicines or to change your medicines.Your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) may already be aware of this drug interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not stop, start, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
