Chenodiol/Aluminum-Based Antacids; Bile Acid Sequestrants Interactions

How the interaction occurs:
If your cholesterol medicine or antacid is taken too close to the time of your dose of chenodiol, it may bind to the chenodiol in your digestive tract, preventing your body from absorbing the chenodiol.
What might happen:
A decrease in the beneficial effects of your chenodiol may occur.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking both of these medicines.If you must take aluminum-based antacids or colestipol, take your chenodiol at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after the antacid or colestipol.If you must take cholestyramine, take your chenodiol at least 1 hour before or at least four to six hours after cholestyramine.If you have questions about how to time your medicines, ask your pharmacist.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
