This product is used to help prevent a certain infection in the intestines (C. difficile-CDI) from coming back after completing antibiotics for a return of the infection. This product is made from human stool from screened donors. It is thought to work by giving you healthy bacteria.

This product is not used for treatment of CDI.

How to use Fecal Microbiota Spores, Live-Brpk Capsule

Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking this product and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this product by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually once daily before the first meal of the day for 3 days. Do not eat or drink, except for a small amount of water, for at least 8 hours before taking the first dose. Swallow the capsules whole. Do not crush, chew, or break the capsules.

The day before you start treatment with this product and at least 8 hours before your first dose, your doctor will direct you to take a laxative (such as magnesium citrate or polyethylene glycol). Carefully follow your doctor's directions for all of your medications.

This product contains live bacteria, so antibiotics may prevent it from working well. Do not take any antibiotics while taking this product, unless directed by your doctor.

Continue to take this product until the full prescribed amount is finished. Tell your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse.

Side Effects

Side Effects

Bloating, tiredness, constipation, chills, or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Remember that this product has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this product do not have serious side effects.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

Before taking this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease.

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

During pregnancy, this product should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is unknown if this product passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.

Lab and/or medical tests (such as stool tests) may be done while you are taking this product. Keep all medical and lab appointments. Consult your doctor for more details.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store in the original container in the refrigerator or at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
