Who should not take Concerta?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • abnormal EKG with QT changes from birth
  • acrocyanosis
  • suicidal thoughts
  • priapism
  • a prolonged erection of the penis
  • inadequate absorption of nutrients due to a short bowel
  • blockage of the stomach or intestine
  • peripheral vascular disease
  • Raynaud's phenomenon
  • a condition where blood vessels constrict too much with coldness or stress
  • a stroke
  • abnormal heart rhythm
  • cardiomyopathy
  • a disease of the heart muscle
  • coronary artery disease
  • heart attack within the last 30 days
  • chronic muscle twitches or movements
  • drug abuse
  • alcohol use disorder
  • psychotic disorder
  • manic-depression
  • structural disorder of heart
  • problems with food passing through the esophagus
  • chronic heart failure
  • a heart attack
  • high blood pressure
  • Tourette's
  • manic behavior
  • overactive thyroid gland
  • history of drug abuse
  • glaucoma
  • an increased pressure in the eye
