How the interaction occurs:
If your cholesterol medicine or antacid is taken too close to the time of your dose of sodium phenylbutyrate-taurursodiol, it may bind to the sodium phenylbutyrate-taurursodiol in your digestive tract, preventing your body from absorbing the sodium phenylbutyrate-taurursodiol.
What might happen:
A decrease in the beneficial effects of your sodium phenylbutyrate-taurursodiol may occur.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking both of these medicines. Your healthcare professional may need to change your antacid medicine or your cholesterol medicine.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
