Zolmitriptan (Greater Than 2.5 mg)/Cimetidine Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Cimetidine may slow down how quickly your liver processes your migraine medicine.

What might happen:

The amount of zolmitriptan in your body may increase and cause unwanted side effects such as tingling or numbness; pain, pressure or tightness in the jaw, throat or neck; heart palpitations or dizziness.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to change the dose of your migraine medicine while you are taking your cimetidine or may want you to try an alternative to cimetidine. If you notice any extra side effects from your migraine medicine while taking cimetidine, let your doctor know.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
