Sensitive CYP2B6 Substrates that Prolong QT/Midostaurin Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Midostaurin may speed up how quickly your body processes efavirenz, levomethadone, or methadone. All of these medicines may also affect your heart rhythm.

What might happen:

The blood levels and effects of efavirenz, levomethadone, and methadone may decrease and your medicines may not work as well. In addition, taking midostaurin with other agents that can affect your heart rhythm may increase your risk of irregular heartbeats, which may be life-threatening.

What you should do about this interaction:

Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking.Tell your doctor if your medicine does not seem to be working or is not working as well. Let your doctor know right away if you notice an irregular heartbeat or have any dizziness or fainting episodes.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
