Who should not take Cytarabine Vial?

The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug. Check with your physician if you have any of the following:

Conditions:

  • cardiomyopathy
  • a disease of the heart muscle
  • acute respiratory distress syndrome
  • a type of lung disorder
  • stomatitis
  • a condition with painful swelling and sores inside the mouth
  • stomach or intestinal ulcer
  • liver problems
  • vomiting
  • high amount of uric acid in the blood
  • a bacterial infection
  • opportunistic fungal infection
  • an infection due to a protozoa organism
  • decreased function of bone marrow
  • anemia
  • decreased blood platelets
  • low levels of white blood cells
  • low levels of granulocytes
  • a type of white blood cell
  • a painful condition that affects the nerves in the legs and arms called peripheral neuropathy
  • fluid in the lungs
  • necrotizing enterocolitis
  • or inflammation and tissue death in the colon and small intestine
  • acute inflammation of the pancreas
  • coma
  • diarrhea
  • pregnancy
  • kidney disease with likely reduction in kidney function
  • an increased risk of developing an uncommon viral infection called an opportunistic infection
  • a patient who is producing milk and breastfeeding
