Lidocaine/Saquinavir Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Saquinavir may slow down how quickly your liver processes lidocaine.

What might happen:

The amount of lidocaine in your blood may increase and may increase your risk of life-threatening effects on your heart.

What you should do about this interaction:

Contact your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) right away about taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to check the amount of your antiarrhythmic in your blood or perform an electrocardiogram (ECG) on you to check your heart's rhythm. Your doctor may want to change the dose of your antiarrhythmic. Let your doctor know right away if you notice an irregular heartbeat or have any dizziness or fainting episodes.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
