Levoleucovorin; Leucovorin/Glucarpidase Interactions

How the interaction occurs:
Leucovorin is used to prevent toxicity due to high blood levels of methotrexate. Glucarpidase is used to decrease high methotrexate blood levels. Since these medications work in different ways, they are used together to decrease methotrexate toxicity.However, if glucarpidase is given near the time of your leucovorin dose, it will also decrease leucovorin blood levels.
What might happen:
Your leucovorin dose may not be as effective.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you or adjusting medication doses. They will also order laboratory tests to monitor your response to treatment.It is very important you receive all prescribed doses of both glucarpidase and leucovorin. Make sure to get all laboratory tests ordered by your doctor. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
