Nevirapine/Selected Strong CYP3A4 Inducers Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Certain medicines may speed up how quickly your liver processes nevirapine.

What might happen:

Your blood levels of nevirapine may decrease. If the amount of nevirapine decreases too much, it may not be effective against your HIV infection, and your HIV virus may develop resistance to these and other non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs).

What you should do about this interaction:

Contact your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) as soon as possible about taking these medicines together.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
