How the interaction occurs:
Stiripentol may slow down how quickly your liver processes medicines in the ergot alkaloid family.
What might happen:
The amount of ergot alkaloid in your blood may increase and cause side effects such as chest pain; change in heartbeat; numbness and tingling of the hands, feet, or face; pain in the arms, legs, or lower back; or itching.
What you should do about this interaction:
Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Let your doctor know right away if you have any side effects from your ergot alkaloid.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
