Tuberculin Testing/Live Vaccines Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

You may receive the test for tuberculosis (TB) within one day of receiving live vaccines. However, if the TB test is not done within one day, it should be deferred until at least 4-6 weeks after the live vaccine. Your immune system may not react to the TB test if it is done sooner.

What might happen:

The results of your TB test could be wrong.

What you should do about this interaction:

Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know about any vaccinations you have recently received. Discuss the timing of your vaccines and your TB test with your healthcare provider. You may need to reschedule your TB test or repeat the TB test in order to make sure it is accurate.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
