How the interaction occurs:
Colchicine may have adverse effects on muscles. HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors (statin) may have a similar.
What might happen:
The combination may increase the chance for muscle problems. You may experience muscle aches, tenderness, weakness, or tingling/numbness in the fingers or toes.
What you should do about this interaction:
Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. Your doctor may want to order laboratory (blood) tests or decrease the dose of one or both medicines.Tell your doctor right away if you experience tingling/numbness in the fingers or toes, or have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
