Methylphenidate XR-ODT/H2 Antagonists;Proton Pump Inhibitors Interactions

How the interaction occurs:

Proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers may cause your methylphenidate to dissolve in your stomach more quickly and result in more methylphenidate being absorbed into your blood than intended.

What might happen:

Your methylphenidate may not be as effective, or its effect may not last for as long. You may experience more side effects than expected, such as increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, irritability, anxiety, tremor, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

What you should do about this interaction:

Make sure your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. You may need to change your medicine to avoid an interaction with methylphenidate.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with them first.
