I don't take it all the time only when I have consistent anxiety and it does help the awful closed throat, heavy heart feeling I get before I have an anxiety attack. I took generic Valium and it did very little. It relaxed me some, but I still could not sleep and it was far from being the "relaxation drug" others told me it was. I think the brand name would have worked a lot better.

Valium is the best benzo for long term, chronic anxiety and panic disorder. However, the hardest thing is if you ever have to stop it without switching to another benzo. The 2 side effects I had were the occasional headache associated with tiredness. Valium has the longest half life of any benzo and that is arguably why it is the hardest to stop after long term use. Be careful.

I've been on all of the benzos and Valium is not only the most effective it is the safest and easiest to come off of if you choose to do so. This is an oldie but goodie! Does the job and does it quickly :)
