I felt compelled to write a positive review about my experience with Paragard because there seems to be so many negative ones. I have had the Paragard IUD for about 4 weeks. Placement was uncomfortable, but tolerable. I took 200mg of Motrin before I went in so I'm sure that helped ease some of the discomfort. I can say that there were about 3 different times where I felt a quick pinch. The cramping I experienced was similar to a pap smear. I experienced moderate cramping afterward but took another 200mg of Mortin which helped. I experienced about 5 days of spotting with mild cramps. My husband and I had sex about 10 days after placement. I was a little nervous but everything was great. Neither of us could feel the IUD and I didn't experience any pain. I recently just had my period. Now, I've had 3 kids and my periods are extremely regular. My periods usually last about 4 days, with the first two days heavy, and the last two light; moderate cramping on day 1, maybe day 2. This time around, my period was a little heavier, and cramps were a little worse. My period lasted about 5.5 days. Overall, I am extremely happy with Paragard. My doctor said most people who have it removed can't get used to the heavier periods w/ more cramps. Since my periods are already heavy, I am willing to stick it out, and have faith that I have finally found a form of BC that is convenient and won't make me feel like I'm on an emotional roller coaster.

Hello, I have had paragard after my second child I have 2 yrs and I love paragard everything is going great. but today I got a tiny circle spot of blood and im not pregnant took a pregnancy it negative.. so im just annoy what it is. anyway overall I recommend paragard for everyone ..hormone free and it better to have paragard after a first or second child and you can do your doc ... I read some of the reviews on paragard and wonder where some of you went to have this inserted. Your doctors must not be to good. I never had any discomfort when having mine inserted. I was in & out in less then 5 mins. The only thing that's changed since I've gotten my ParaGard is my period is heavy. Other than that I love it. Worth every penny considering its good for 10years. Like a very severe cramp for me and I did show signs of a vagal response with mild nausea and cramping. I have a pretty high thresh hold for pain so I could see how some may have trouble with this. I have only had paragard for several months now, but I have been completely happy. Insertion was painful, as expected. Like a very severe cramp for me and I did show signs of a vagal response with mild nausea and cramping. I have a pretty high thresh hold for pain so I could see how some may have trouble with this. I was uncomfortable for several hours and as I was walking around it felt almost as though it just settled in where it was supposed to go. Over the course of the first month I did have mild cramps every few days, becoming more and more sparse by my first period. My first period was quite heavy and around 5-6 days (on the pill mine were 3-4 ish) but they have continually shortened an lightened. Within about a week and a half I was back to my full workouts (including abs and running) and activity. I was very concerned with initially getting an IUD because before I was on birth control my periods caused excessive cramping and nausea, but finally opted to go with Paragard because I wanted to get away from hormones. The last few months on the pills left me, to put it frankly, bitchy and uncomfortable. Now, I have almost no symptoms of pms, cramps and my periods are medium to light and last around 4 days and I don't have to worry about taking pills every morning or having a hormone flux around my period. I would highly recommend Paragard, but only to those who do the research and consult with their doctor.
