Comment:
I was taking L-Carnitine for low energy levels (even though I exercise regularly and eat extremely healthy). I seemed fine at 1,000 mg per day, but my heart started beating out of my chest when I increased to 2,000 mg per day. Apparently, increased heart rate and high blood pressure can be a side-effect.

Comment:
I take 2500 mg per day of L-Carnitine (fumerate form) to treat my hyperthyroidism. Using traditional treatment for hyperthyroidism caused hair loss and increase in blood pressure so I stopped taking it and have been on L-Carnitine supplement for over a year now.

L-carnitine is awesome. I use it in combination with my 35 min cardiovascular workouts every other day. I am really happy with this!
