I was using parlodel when I was first diagnosed, but Dostinex has proven much more effective, in that it has reduced my tumor more rapidly than Dostinex and the side effects were far less.

In 1995, to my dismay I was diagnosed with a prolactin producing brain tumor. What a Terrible shock the news was to me. My porlactin levels were in the 1200 to 1300 range, and to make matters worse I am a male and my levels should have been from 0 to 26. My doc started me on Parlodel 30 mg PO daily. I had a cyst on my pituatary gland and had it removed in 1995. I was initially put on parlodel and it made me so sick that i couldnt handle it so I had the surgery. After my surgery the cyst started to grow back and my doctor put me on Dostinex. My level was 121 when I had the surgery and I went down to 60 afterwards. Dostinex is very expensive, It costs me 200.00 for 8 pills but this is the best medicine for this condition i've tried bromocriptine and it didnt work as good for me! I was amazed when the doctor told me my tumor had totally disappeared after being on dostinex for a while. I'm 31 and havent had kids yet i'm hoping i can have some one day with this disorder.
