As for the effectiveness I do not know, but I do know that this vitamin made me puke 30 minutes after I took it. I have had nausea for the last few weeks, but had not thrown up until I took this vitamin. I cried, I puked, and I wondered why my doctor would give me such a vitamin...It was awful! Three days later and my throat is still sore from vomiting. Beware.

My Dr. Gave me a sample bag filled with several prenatal vitamins. I tried them all over the course of two weeks but really liked the CitraNatal DHA vitamins. They tasted great, like vanilla and I didn't have any side effects. Try them first if you get a big sample bag, I think you will agree :) JGB
