    I have been anemic all my life but worse in the 50-60's. I just received 4 units of blood and 2 units of iron - still not back to normal as my levels are still on the low end of the range for hemoglobin and iron. My old pharmacy could not get the multigen so went to a different pharmacy - not knowing there are different strengths - I received the lowest one. After 5 months I went to the dr ...     This is the only oral supplement that improves my iron and hemoglobin levels. Unfortunately, my new insurer (Health Net) refuses to cover it, saying it can be duplicated with OTC meds. Local pharmacies are hesitant to order it because they say it's too expensive to risk that I won't pick it up.     I was anemic for a long time. I had surgery recently and blood count fell horribly so dr prescribed this drug to me a mutligen which has now incrased my Blood Count yea!!! but i must say from reading this site I see the brand name drug is Nifrex Forte 150 which I took years ago.. and the pharmacy's could not get for me anylonger so I had stopped taking Iron as nothing else worked..     Multigen caplet has caused black stool and diarrhea.Every time I eat something,I must run to the bathroom.I am taking it from a Dermatologist who was checking me for scalp itching and baldness.

    Used due to iron def anemia while pregnant. However after taking for almost 2 months, my iron level had not increased. Also, after beginning to take I could not sleep--long story short, this Rx has B12 which increases energy levels. I was instructed to continue taking it while breastfeeding and BIG mistake.
