I have A LOT of allergies (medicines and food) but thankfully, not polysporin. I usually use the triple antibiotic one. I have read that the triple one may cause allergic skin reactions in some people. It was pretty deep into the dermal layer. It went from my angle to my calf. It was extremely painful. The ER doctor told me that I should put polysporin all over my lower leg (not feet) while taking oral antibiotics until the infection is gone. He was right. I did what he said and it helped so much in the first few days. It was like a triple or quadruple bang against the infection with the Clindamycin taken orally and the Triple Polysporin rubbed topically on my leg. I don't use this often because I am afraid of antibiotic-overuse, but, when I get a cut that I know is bad, I use the polysporin bandaids and they work great. They keep the skin so moist. I wish I could buy polysporin without antibiotic in it just to smooth my skin. It's amazing!

I've used Polysporin for years on minor cuts and scraps. Recently I have cut the tip of my thumb off and this product has been great for protecting the wound and keeping it moist.

After squamous cell carcinoma biopsy I was told to use this medication on the spot. Within a week I broke out in a rash surrounding the area biopsied. I quit using the medication, but continued to itch dramatically for 3 weeks. Surgeon then told me NEVER to use it. It was the culprit for the rash & he would never recommend.

I've used polysporin powder for decades for open, seeping wounds wheather deep or shallow. I suspect the reason I'm having a hard time getting some now is it is carried in a lactose base...many are sensitive to lactose. Would someone please tell me where I may be able to buy some? I wish my wounds to heal in days...not weeks, months or even years.

After removal of Basal Cell Carcinoma, I was told to use only polysporin in the hole and keep bandaged. After 3 days of using it I developed a severe skin rash around the wound and itching so severe I could not tolerate it. After returning to the Dr, I was told to quit using it that I was allergic to it. Am keeping Vaseline in the wound now and bandaged, no itching whatsoever!
