I was skeptical about trying another IUD after I had to get Skyla IUD removed after 9 months with nothing but issues. I was busy with full time school and a full time job and found myself not being good about taking my pill, as well as having my period every other week, so it was my next option. Insertion wasnt bad, the worst part was when my gynecologist had to measure m ... Show Full Comment

Experienced lots of spotting, it didnâ??t go away. I got a pill added on top to help with that. After some time, I started developing ovarian cysts that would burst occasionally. The whole time I was on Mirena, I was having recurrent UTIs, which would be happening because of the recurrent bacterial vaginosis. If youâ??re S/O has an well endowed penis, they could possibly feel it. My boyf ... Show Full Comment

I loved my mirena for the first two years of having it. My period stopped and i didnt have any side effects. But, over the past few months i have had recurrent bacterial vaginosis (4+ over the past 6 months) that i believe is because of the mirena (although mirena studies have not been specifically linked to increased chance of BV). I got my mirena taken out 2 months ago and have not had BV since.

I felt like when it was initially placed, it did mean I had to adjust a lot to the effects of it, but it calmed down a lot after a couple of months (~3mos max). It has been very effective, especially since there have been times with partners over the past 5 years where we were having sex unprotected. I liked the fact that it was 5 years, and I am planning on getting it replaced with the same type ... Show Full Comment

I did initially experience excruciating, breathtaking cramps during and immediately after insertion. My periods and all PMDD symptoms stopped immediately, and the Progestin causes my hair and nails to grow extremely fast. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I'm on my second one, and I love it.
