itchy/red/splotchy rash all over my body along with my lips swelling and becoming excessively chapped/dry. I experienced severe neck stiffness and an extreme loss of appetite, leading to me becoming underweight.

I had a staph infection in my leg which was treated at urgent care, for which I was given 10 days worth of two of the 800mg/160mg tablets per day. On day 2 I started experiencing horrible insomnia. I managed to get to sleep by using Benadryl, but by day 5 I was also getting very anxious. On day 9 I experienced a strange sensation in my arms and legs that felt like weariness. On the morning of day 10 I got a ringing in my ears. I decided not to take my last day of medicine. What anxiety I had was exacerbated by this ringing, especially after looking up that symptom. I saw my actual doctor on the following day and he said that the side effects were most likely due to the medicine and they would likely resolve when the medicine was out of my system. In about a week or so, he said. It is now 2 days after I stopped taking the drug. Last night I was able to get to sleep with just 1 Benadryl rather than two. Also, the ringing has gone from being irritating to hardly perceptible, although the experience has made me hypersensitive to noise. That is the most irritating thing because I have no idea whether it was truly 'zero' before the drug, because I never paid attention to it. Anyway it's so faint that I can hardly tell at this point whether I am hearing true ringing or not. But on my last day of the drug let me tell you it was very real and very disturbing. Anyway, hopefully the anxiety and hypervigilance about sound will also go away as more time comes between me and my experience of taking this drug. For full disclosure, I have had anxiety issues in the past, but that was triggered by a life event, and it had been over 2 years since I needed any medication to manage it. It has been perhaps 72 hours since my last dose of Bactrim, and today I have been on the fence as to whether I was going to need to get back in touch with my psychiatrist. Time will tell, I suppose. Oh, and the infection cleared up.

terrible medicine,super big bad reaction, hives over my entire body, lip swollen to twice size, upper lip. chills, face as if had been in Sahara desert with out a hat, not able to sleep for 3 nights, terrible itching, legs hurt so much could not stand. Had someone broken into the house I could have done anything I was somewhat paralized, Hard to swallow, bloches all over face, chest,legs, chills ... Show Full Comment

Had someone broken into the house I could have done anything I was somewhat paralized, Hard to swallow, bloches all over face, chest,legs, chills, nausea,never have been allergic to anything in 65 years, this medicine should be removed from the market, someone should sue them, It is a very dangerous drug. I have never seen anything like it, How it was approved is incredible, hope it does not have lasting effects, had to return to the doctor for this. Finger still red.

A couple days after starting Bactrim DS, I started having headaches and stomach hurting and burning. I am not sleeping at night more than 2 hours at a time. Also horrible indigestion and causing belching which feels like I am going to throw up. I am going to stop this medicine..
