I was given this in the ER to prep for a CT scan of my abdomen. The nurse mixed it with Crystal Loght and the taste was not too bad. I had to drink over a quart of the mixture. The CT scan went well and I was sent home and thought all was well. In about 4 hours I had severe diarrhea that lasted over 3 days.On the third day of diarrhea I nearly passed out and was admitted to the hospital with ... Show Full Comment

Used this yesterday for CT of abdomen and pelvis to diagnose partial small bowel obstruction. Was given to me at room temp but nurse was kind enough to provide apple juice chaser. Tasted like Satan's urine, very difficult to drink while in pain. However, doctor says its laxative effect helped relieve my obstruction without surgery. Therefore, I love Gastrografin.

I had to drink this 2 hours before a CT scan of the abdomen. Although the flavor is not ideal (think: bandaid & lemonade fusion), it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Took me about 10 minutes to get it down by taking large sips. (Elsewhere I read that you should not use a straw, and you should not chug it, so I went with the "happy medium.") I did take this at work and left fo ... Show Full Comment

I had this last night before a CT scan of my abdomin. It tastes horrible, but the scan was a success. It did give me slight chills an hour after each of the two time-lapsed drinks. I had to urgently urinate every hour for 5 hours and afterwards felt dehyrated. Bad adominal cramps/rumbling today with two bouts of diarrhea. Feel fine now though. Nothing to be concerned with for this medicine that I ... Show Full Comment

After returning home from my abdominal CT scan, for which I drank 3 glasses of contrast, I began having intense stomach cramps and diarrhea. I was in the bathroom off and on for near 3 hours. Hope this scan was worthwhile!
