Got my doctor to let me try SSZ rather than Methotrexate he had recommended. MTX, a chemo drug, sounded bad and would not allow me to enjoy my evening glass of wine.Took about 4 months on SSZ before RA symptoms in my hands abated to be very minor and only present if I really stress my wrist joints. When RA was at its worst, I could hardly button my shirts, open a cabinet door or twist the lid off

I began taking this medication to replace the constant use of Prednisone (which has worse side effects). While it does seem to have stopped my "flares" it does bother my stomach and in turn I have to take prescritption prilosec to counter act the upset stomach.
