For reference, I was previously taking Tri-Sprintec which stopped agreeing with my body - I started to experience breakthrough bleeding during weeks 2 and 3. I was then switched to Sprintec, which also had the same side effects along with constant hunger. I thought I’d give Nuvaring a try as I liked the idea of not having to remember to take a pill everyday. I do not feel it at all at any point, I ... Show Full Comment

I am writing this for my 19 year old daughter Shelby Pepin. Shelby died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the NuvaRing. Shelby had no warning signs that anything was wrong and died instantly. Please do not take a chance with your life there are many other safe methods of birth control. Make sure you are aware of what you're putting in your body and don't ignore any unusual indication ... I have used NuvaRing for years now and not had any major problems with it. I did not experience weight gain or depression or even a lowered sex drive! The only thing I don't like about it is that sometimes during sex it will come out randomly or the guy will feel it and it weirds him out. I'm also not a fan of putting it in/taking it out but that's a personal preference on your body.

I started the NuvaRing three years ago at age 27 after having horrible side effects from Ortho TriCyclen Lo. I thought the Nuva was very easy to use and very effective. The only side effect I had was melasma on my forehead. No weight gain, no mood swings, my periods were light. Great option if you are tired of taking the pill but please watch out for the melasma side effect from the estrogen.

From day one, the morning after I put it in I wake up so nauseous, obviously not pregnant. This same thing happened with the pills to me. Otherwise no complaints except a little uncomfortable when we had sex, got to the point where I took it out to do the deed and put it back in when I was done, never any slipping or moving from its place. I'm going back to the shot after about a yet with the ... Show Full Comment
