I usually take this medication on a night as it does make me really drowsy. I haven't taken it through the day for that reason so not sure if it would affect me the same way during the day. It works well to help with decongestion and since it makes me drowsy I get a good nights sleep and the rest helps my body to fight the illness. I came down with flu like symptoms while traveling in France, pharmacist recommended this. It worked like a miracle. Later came down with cold symptoms in Guatemala, this drug knocked it right out w/in hours.

Actifed is the only OTC medication that has helped me with my allergy/cold symptoms, it's inexpensive, and I haven't had any side effects. One drawback is I have to get it when the pharmacy is open, since they keep it behind the counter.
