I usually take this medication on a night as it does make me really drowsy. I haven't taken it through the day for that reason so not sure if it would affect me the same way during the day. It works well to help with decongestion and since it makes me drowsy I get a good nights sleep and the rest helps my body to fight the illness. HOWEVER, every time I take this I have very vivid and intense dreams, not necessarily nightmares, though that has happened too. My dreams are just scarily clear. That being said, I do recommend the product because it helps shift cold and flu very quick and I only ever take it for a night or two.

I came down with flu like symptoms while traveling in France, pharmacist recommended this. It worked like a miracle. Later came down with cold symptoms in Guatemala, this drug knocked it right out w/in hours.

Actifed is the only OTC medication that has helped me with my allergy/cold symptoms, it's inexpensive, and I haven't had any side effects. One drawback is I have to get it when the pharmacy is open, since they keep it behind the counter. Another is it does only last about 6 hours, and since I don't really like waking up to take another tablet, that can be a nuisance. But, it's the ... Show Full Comment
