This is a very powerful drug. To start off, I am a 6â??0â? 180lb male. I was prescribed the 50mg once daily, however since I have been hospitalized for other prescription medicines due to reactions I was hesitant. I started on 25mg instead. This hit me like a truck, I was extremely tired and in a fog. I felt like a zombie. I took it down to 12.5mg, still was extremely tired and out of i ... Show Full Comment

I've struggled with alcohol all of my adult life and drink to ward off stress from my legal job and because I get bored on weekends. I have quit drinking several times for a month or two but always seem to go back wanting to get rid of my stress or fill my days off drinking. I am at the point now where my health is failing and I don't feel good unless I am drinking so every day my stomac ... Show Full Comment

A naltrexone treatment study by Anton et al., released by the National Institutes of Health in February 2008 and published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, has shown that alcoholics having a certain variant of the opioid receptor gene (G polymorphism of SNP Rs1799971 in the gene OPRM1), known as Asp40, demonstrated strong response to naltrexone and were far more likely to experience success ... I've was a functioning alcoholic for 15 years. I moved up in my career while day drinking and would consume about a half a fifth to a fifth of vodka a night. I would tell people I was an alcoholic, but they wouldn't believe me. I had no problem being one for the first 10 years, but I more and more became concerned about dying young because of it. I did not think it was possible to quit ... Show Full Comment

Started this in rehab. Drank 30 years, hard drinker last 10 years, blackout drunk at least four times a week. Zero cravings over the last six weeks. It is almost too good to be true. Anxiety level is a little higher than usual but I am not sure if that is just from adjusting to life back in the real world
