I also had a severe allergic reaction to Mastisol post-op which included a itchy red rash over the surgical site as well as my across my chest, blisters over the surgical site, seeping wounds and infection. I would HIGHLY encourage persons to have a small patch tested before a surgery requiring this medication. I recently had another out-patient procedure and the nurse (not aware of my allergy)

This adhesive was used, without my prior knowledge, to adhere the steri-strips & tegaderm after a minor surgery on my thigh w/a 1-2 wk recovery cycle. this adhesive was applied to my skin after surgery to hold on Steri strips. Severe allergic reaction, red blisters, that itched and spread all over my body. Very similar to poison oak... Lasted for days and caused major discomfort. Have recently discovered my allergy and would recommend doing a skin test before using.
