They prescribed 500mg, 2x a day for 3 days. After the first pill the symptoms improved. I started noticing a mild vaginal itching on day two and very mild fatigue and a slight stiffness of my neck and shoulder muscles, but nothing too bad. I was mostly worried about the headache it said was a "common" side effect because I have had migraines and didn't want to trigger one, but thankfully that didn't happen. Tomorrow I take my last pill and I hope the slight muscle aches, fatigue and itching subside quickly. Glad the bladder infection is better. THAT was awful! After reading all the horrible reviews and side effects here, I'm sure if I ever have another UTI, I'd ask for something different.

I was prescribed Cyprofloaxcin (250 mg, 2x day) for a urinary tract infection. Just a few minutes after taking the first dose I began noticing major itching, especially in my facial/head area. My lips swelled and After about 1 hr developed a severe headache. I took the 2nd dose the next day and experienced the same symptoms. I have never been allergic to any medication that I've taken before until now. It cleared up my UTI rather quickly though. I had my doctor call in a different prescription right away and will never take Cyprofloaxcin again.

The biggest problem I've encountered is that it has made me quite sleepy. I've also noticed the dizziness and light headedness that can be side-effects. However, they haven't been so bad that I've felt the need to discontinue taking the medicine. And it's worked for getting rid of my first, and hopefully last, UTI.

I took two 500 mg of cipro. 30 minutes after taking second dose I broke out in hives and was very hoarse. I also woke up the same night with throbbing in my left leg, and still have that pain on day three. Also, the cultures for my urine showed that I did not even have an infection . This was after spending 6 hours in the emergency room.
