My mom was taking Vanco for 3 months to treat a bad case of c-diff. 2 weeks after stopping, the c-diff flared up again. She's now on 250mg q 6 hours but has bad back & leg pains. Not listed on the list of side effects but I'm assuming it's from the Vanco as nothing else has changed.

Being this young and taking eight pills a day is not something I want to be doing. The capsules make it easy to swallow, although I am not done with my prescription, so far everything's looking good.

On this drug for the third time to cure c.diff, which was caused by antibiotics. it worked great the first two times, but c.diff came back after i stopped. i am now on it for 6 weeks. but i noticed improvement within 48 of the vancomycin. thank god for insurance because 6 week supply is almost $6000. i only had to pay $12.

I was on Vanco several times last summer for C. diff, and now, 6 months later, I have it again...along with heat and neuro problems, quite possibly tied in with being on the Vancomycin

    Comment:
C.diff is terrible - Dr.s & dentists really need to make people more aware of the possible effects of antibiotic over-use, & especially clindomycin, often the culprit in contracting this disease. Had I known about c.diff, I would have held off on more antibiotics for my infected thumb, at least for a while! And then I would also take massive doses of probiotics along with the antibiotics, ...
