I have taken Ambien for over ten years and it works well if used correctly.This medication has to be taken and immediately get in the bed and turn off lights and TV. If you stay awake for more than 15 minutes that's where the strange things come in, eating, not remembering things, making phone calls etc. I have noticed memory loss and am wondering will taking this drug lead to dementia or alzh

I had a few weeks with not sleeping or an hour or two a night. My doctor had me on Zolpidem 10mg to start out with. It worked but I only slept 3 to 4 hours a night. They switched me to Zolpiem CR 6.5 mg. It was too low of a dose to sleep. The doctor told me to take two. That did the trick! I vary from sleeping 6 to 8 now. I have taken Ambien for several years, and they have literally saved my life! I have restless leg syndrome and only slept 2 to 3 hours per night before taking Ambien. I have taken this drug off and on for a couple of years. Lately, have had trouble waking up in morning after 10 - 12 hours. Also my bird is acting funny like I am scaring him. Have gained a lot of weight because I eat without knowing about it and have conversations with my husband and do not remember. If I drink alcohol, it is worse. Need to stop this drug.
