I had a spinal injury that caused spinal fluid leak when i stood or sat upright. During spinal tap i asked for something for pain. Er doc gave me options to choose from. This was the option i chose. I had a hard time focusing on the conversation the ER doc was trying to have with me during the spinal tap. It definitely did the job i asked for.

Tore a tendon in my ankle, awaiting surgery. The pain is excruciating; oxycodone immediate release or hydrocodone/acetaminophen (Vicodin) are not great, but they actually relieve some pain. I'm on 4 mg every 4-6 hours of hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and I feel absolutely no pain relief what-so-ever and I am afraid to have my doc increase the dose because I'm paranoid about the possibility to s ... Tore a tendon in my ankle, awaiting surgery. The pain is excruciating; oxycodone immediate release or hydrocodone/acetaminophen (Vicodin) are not great, but they actually relieve some pain. I'm on 4 mg every 4-6 hours of hydromorphone (Dilaudid) and I feel absolutely no pain relief what-so-ever and I am afraid to have my doc increase the dose because I'm paranoid about the possibility to stop breathing as this is a huge warning on this medicine, more-so than hydrocodone or oxycodone. I took Vicodin 10/300 for 10 days and then Oxycodone 10mg for 10 days, so I doubt if I have tolerance already. Taking the Dilaudid back to the pharmacy for disposal and asking my doc to please just give me 20-30 mg of Oxycodone instead of the 10 mg I was on. I'd rather have this because Hydrocodone does not come without acetaminophen, but Oxycodone does. Dilaudid works well in a hospital setting through an IV, but the tablets are useless and I will not be taking them after surgery either. Oxycodone with some Aleve should work just fine. I received Dilaudid through an IV to manage the pain immediately after a c-section. It got me super stoned but it didn't do anything for my pain. I HATED it because the last thing I wanted in that moment was to feel high. My doctor later said that Dilaudid worked on the brain to almost distract from the pain, but it never worked for me. I will never ever take it again.

I was prescribed dilaudid along with morphine for back and neck pain. I under went 4 surgeries, 2 neck, 2 hip, it was hell coming off of these pai pills, even taken as directed y body became addicted. now a few years later my pancreas is not producing enzymes to digest my food. I blame these pain meds, while on them I was constipated all the time, I believe that years of meds and constipation led ... Show Full Comment

I think they should only prescribe these meds to people in the hospital, not for home use, I also think the doctors should monitor your organ function while on these meds alot better then they do!!!! I blame the meds and the doctor who prescribed them to me, for this life threatening diseases that I am left with to face....

Used for a knee replacement....tried Percoset, and other pain meds...this has worked for me...stay ahead of your pain.
