i had taken thiola for at least 12 years. the problem that arose today that the company has discontinued making thiola. i have a call into my urologist to see what else i can take.

All stones have stopped since starting this medicine 4 years ago. Prior to that I had 6 surgeries in one year.

I haven't noticed a decrease in stone production since starting this medication, but I do not have more stones than before. The only bad side effect I get from this is that my tongue can go numb sometimes.

Be careful. I was on this medicine and my platelet count went way down four years ago. Since then the platelets have not returned to normal levels. I am going for another surgery (11/2012) and have to take medicine just to increase the platelets.

the only drug that actually helped slow down the production of kidney stones is thiola unfortunately since the % of users who have the disease cystinuria is small. The drug co was unable to reduce its rates and so medicare in 2010 dropped it off its formulary. since the cost is to high most users stopped taking the drug. this is a outrage. any physician who has experienced the pain of a stone will
